Are you interested in learning how to be on a Protest Committee and how Hearings are conducted? Some protest committee experience is helpful, but not required. The purpose of the seminar is to improve the quality, consistency and fairness of protest hearings and results at the club level. Topics include deriving facts from testimony, managing hearings properly, applying applicable rules and arriving at conclusions and a decision.
This is a one day In-Person Club Judge Seminar and the first in-person Judge seminar in Seattle since 2019. Sign up at Find a Seminar and look for 11/4/23 Club Judge Seminar at Corinthian Yacht Club. Be sure to return to this event page after you complete US Sailing Course registration. You will then register for this event and pay the hospitality fee of $20 (see below)
Instructors are Craig Daniels and Wayne Balsiger. Craig is a National Judge and is the Area L Regional Administrative Judge (RAJ). Wayne is Chair of US Sailing Judges’ Committee and was the RAJ.
*Preparation Period: About ten days before the in-person course begins, you will receive an email from Canvas, US Sailing’s online learning platform, inviting you to participate in the course. Please click the "Get Started" link as soon as possible to complete your profile and access the REQUIRED pre-course materials in Canvas. There is approximately 8-10 hours of pre-course preparation that is required prior to the in-person Session. All pre-course work MUST be completed in Canvas prior to in-person session in order to understand that portion of the seminar.
