Amanda and John Neal will cover sailing opportunities offered around the world with lots of photos. You’ll learn what to consider when choosing a sailing expedition plus how to determine what’s important for the next phases of growth and learning in sailing. If your focus is adventure sailing, there are many opportunities on numerous vessels worldwide. These range from crewing for someone on an ocean passage to being a paying guest on an old race boat or tall ship. They will also discuss sail-training expeditions where you are taught valuable fundamentals and skills enabling you to sail your own boat.

Amanda completed the Whitbread Race as rigger aboard Maiden, has 345,000 miles of offshore experience and is author of Marine Diesel Engine Essentials and The Essential Galley Companion. John is author, co-author or contributing author of 17 books and his 388,000 offshore miles include six Cape Horn roundings and expeditions to Antarctica, Africa, Australia and Spitsbergen. Amanda and John spend seven months at sea sailing 10,000 miles annually conducting sail-training expeditions in the South Pacific aboard Mahina Tiare III, their Hallberg-Rassy 46 or in the Pacific Northwest aboard Obelix, a Garcia Exploration 45. When not at sea, they enjoy winter kayaking from their island home at Roche Harbor. Their website is: www.mahina.com and they can be contacted at sailing@mahina.com.
