2002 Rookie Rally

The 14th annual Puget Sound Rookie Rally offers a chance for skippers and crew to learn about and sample sailboat racing. The purpose is to encourage sailors to race their boats while having fun. Topics include a review of the Racing Rules of Sailing, sail trim, starting techniques, tuning your boat, and helm and crew skills development. Participants in the Rookie Rally are encouraged to sail in their own start in the next CYC Evening series. If you have a one-design or PHRF-rated keelboat and want to get into racing, or just brush up on your technique, then this is the event for you. Mornings will be spent in the classroom with expert sailors and local rules gurus, and afternoons are spent on the water in your boat with an on-board racing coach. Videos of starts and sail trim will be available following the on-water sessions for review in the clubhouse.

The Puget Sound Rookie Rally registration fee is $45 for CYC members and $65 for non-members, and this fee includes the entry fee for one Wednesday Evening Series on Puget Sound.

2002 Leschi One Design Clinic

Last year's highly successful Lake Rookie Rally is back again for its second year, but with a new name. This year's two day event will feature morning classroom sessions followed by on-the-water practice, with expert coaching from chase boats. Starting and boat-handling videos will be available following the on-water sessions for review in the clubhouse. No prior racing experience is required, but even experienced racers will benefit from the expert coaching staff. While this event is oriented towards dinghy sailors, keelboat sailors are welcome to attend also.

The Leschi One Design Clinic registration fee is $35 for CYC members and $65 for non-members. The registration includes the entry fee for one Evening Series on the Lake.
