Sea Scouts

Sea Scouts at CYC

Youth sailors, ages 14-21.

Junior sailors who are at the end of eighth grade or 14 years old, and looking for a slightly bigger sailing challenge can join the crew of the Sea Scout ship Yankee Clipper. Built during World War 2, The Yankee Clipper is a wooden 44-foot gaff rigged ketch that has helped thousands of Seattle youth learn to take the wheel of a bigger boat and bring her home safely. The Sea Scouts meet most Monday nights on their boat and CYC provides the winter meeting base for the Yankee Clipper crew. The ship is moored nearby in Ballard.
